Ring bolts and ring nuts from KIPP
Ring bolts are used as connecting elements or rigging elements. They are always used when a high load (tensile / weight) has to be taken up. KIPP offers ring bolts manufactured to comply with DIN 580 (ring nuts DIN 582) which are very robust and durable. They are grouped under the rigging category, alongside crane hooks, swivel rings or shackles. Ring bolts get their name from the ring shaped head and are sometimes wrongly called eyebolts. This ring forms the slinging point for lifting belts, chains, winch cables, round slings and similar equipment. |

Using ring bolts and ring nuts
Ring bolts are used mostly:
- in logistics
- on construction sites
- by tool making
- in workshops
- when assembling heavy components
- by loading and unloading heavy loads
Generally speaking, ring bolts and ring nuts are often used when heavy machine components or tools need to be transported from A to B. These often have points where the ring bolt or ring nut can be screwed on. Cranes or similar load moving equipment are used for the transport. Their versatility is evident in their fields of application. They are used in fence construction for attaching the individual elements or barrier chains, and also in ship and boat building for attaching mooring ropes, mounting handrails and other objects. Due to the materials used, such as stainless steel 1.4401, eyebolts and ring nuts from KIPP are resistant to seawater. |

Many types of ring bolt and several forms of ring nut.
Choose from different types of ring bolts and nuts from the KIPP range. They differ in thread size and various eyelet diameters. Different materials are offered depending on the version. DIN 580 ring bolts are available in steel or various grades of stainless steel. They differ from the variants, the similarity to DIN 580, the CE marking and a higher load capacity. KIPP offers models similar to DIN 580 made exclusively of stainless steel. By the Premium grade 10 version the ring nut is plastic-coated and connected to the screw via a rotating washer. This leads to improved stability and enables loading at 90° to the screw axis. In addition, the swivel ensures that the screw cannot be over tightened or unscrew. The ring can rotate through 360° even when the screw is fully tightened. Grade 10 ring bolts are available with or without an hex key. The advantage of the version with key is that it also serves as a locking device. It can be used to prevent the ring bolt rotating. This type is highly robust and reliable. Depending on the model, they have a load capacity of 300 kg to 4,500 kg.
Ring nuts are also available with different thread sizes and eyelet diameters. DIN 582 ring nuts are made from steel or stainless steel. In addition, you will find models that are similar to DIN 582 in the KIPP range. They differ, as with the ring bolts, in that they do not have a CE mark and have a lower load-bearing capacity. Their advantages lie in being designed with a highly polished surface that enhances the objects and provides an aesthetic finishing touch. |

For every ring bolt the correct material
The correct material is crucial and depends on the subsequent application. At KIPP you will find ring bolts and ring nuts in a range of styles: Steel and stainless steel. Steel excels due to its solid structure, which goes hand in hand with a higher weight. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is a softer metal, but is lighter in weight. The WLL is the same for both steel and stainless steel models.
To increase the range of applications for ring nuts and bolts, you will find models of various stainless steel grades in the KIPP online shop. Stainless steel 1.4301 is ideally suited for everyday outdoor use and impresses with its durability. If the circumstances are particularly demanding and the environmental conditions harsh, as found in coastal regions or on the high seas, then we recommend stainless steel 1.4401. Due to its special alloying, it is sea water resistant and is therefore suitable for boat and ship building and also offshore structures.
