Snap locks – Latch quickly and securely
With snap locks from KIPP, objects can be closed quickly and easily. Thanks to their design, objects remain securely closed even during shocks and vibrations. Due to the various models available, snap locks can be used on many locking systems in different settings. |

What is a snap lock and how does it work??
A snap lock is a quick and convenient solution to securely latch objects such as doors. Thanks to their design, objects remain securely closed even during heavy shocks and vibrations. The operation is very easy - simply push to - finished. Due to the wide range of different models, snap locks from KIPP can be opened in various ways: by pulling, press and twist, press and pull or slide and pull. |
Due to the many different designs, snap locks can be used for diverse applications. Each type has special properties that make it more or less suitable for the subsequent application. For this reason, it is important to take a closer look at the respective models when choosing a snap lock. |
Snap-in snap locks with grip are ideal for thin doors with a door leaf thickness of 0.6 to 1 mm. Due to the tool-free installation, they are quickly fitted: Slide the lock into the cut-out and press it forward, done. To open the door, the grip must be pushed to the side and then pulled. A built-in spring returns the snap lock to its original position. This also enables reliable closing by simply pushing shut. |
Snap locks with fold-down grip
You can also find snap locks with fold-down grip in the KIPP range. These have the advantage that the grip does not protrude. This means that the snap lock can be installed flush in objects such as doors or hatches. The lock is made of plastic and is pre-tensioned by a spring. This prevents rattling caused by vibrations and shocks. For certain applications, there are models with a built-in lock. These lockable snap locks prevent unauthorised or unintentional opening. They are suitable for a door leaf thickness of 2 to 22 mm. |
By these models one can choose between the simple snap locks with knob and the snap locks with twist knob. By both models, the knob must be pressed and released so that it can be gripped. On models with a twist knob, the knob is turned, the lock unlatches and the door, hatch or cover can be opened. On locks with a fixed knob, one must simply pull on the knob to open the object. To close, the door etc. is simply pushed to. The snap lock latches and is securely closed. The knob can now be pushed back flush. These can be used with a door leaf thickness of 1.2 to 19 mm. |

Application areas for snap locks
Snap locks can be used on almost all applications where e.g. a door or hatch needs to be held securely closed. Thanks to the flush installation, they are very space-saving and do not get in the way. Thanks to their special properties, snap locks are ideally suited for areas where shocks or vibrations could cause conventional locks to spring open. This is why they are used, among other things, on marine vessels where it is important that everything stays in place, especially in heavy seas. But snap locks remain securely closed even during abrupt driving manoeuvres in e.g. ambulances, or sustained vibrations such as those that caused by machines or motors. |
